Shush
county
The three major rivers of this part of the
county are Dez, Karkheh and shahoor pass
through and the latter rannig through the
city of shush.
as the major city of the county, Shush has
an area of 1800h.the municipality of the
city was established in 1954.
there are many interesting and ancient
manuments and sites to visit.
Shush
Shush as the most ancient city of humans
civilization, was originally built eround
4000 b.c.
the major scientific excavating operation
did happend in 1850 by a group of french
archeaologists and was continued over the
following decades .
as the results many precious and invaluable
objects belonging to the elamite and
achaemenian dynasties as well as post
isiamis era were discovered .
Karkheh
bank thickets
Karkheh is one of the most important rives
of iran and has been mentioned in acamin
tablets.
this river has seveal times changed its
route . of its important featuers are the
annual floods which with construction of
karkheh dam have been controlled.
on the bank of this river consentrated
vegatation is formed of trees and shrubs is
formed.
Sush
castel
After the French established themselves in
susa (shush) and their need for a suitable
long stay residance,in 1897 they started the
construaction of a castel on the historcal
acropolis hill.
the castel was built according to a european
plan, using the hiostorical materials found
in the historical areas of susa and
Chugh-Zanbil .
local labour was employed in its costruction
.
the castel during the last 107 years has
been modified many times with additions to
it .
at the present it is home to the khuzestan
cultural heritage and touring organization .
The
temple of Danial
Danil as one of most well known jewish
prophets whose name in hebrew means : " god
is my ruler " , lived and died in Shush in
700 b.c.
Sanial , who had immigrated to persia with a
large group of jewish people , decided to
reside permanently in shush and eventually
died there too .
his temple is located along the eastern bank
of the shahoors river .
on top of the building , there is a dome
which is the typical kind of the dome found
in area.
The
Shush museum
This museum with an area of 550m2 is placed
in a garden with a total area of 1435m2 and
is adjacent to the shush historical area .
the museum was opend in 1966 and it contains
a number of interesting objects which have
been excavated during this century and
desades before it .
The
Shahoors or Ardeshir palace
Along the western side of the Shahoors river
, the ruins of an old palace was discovered
and because of its location , the name of
shahoor was given to it . this palace ,
which was built during the ardeshir ll
ruling
years , is measured 34.6 / 37.5 meters with
sixty four stone based on columns and walls
made of prepared mud .
the palace is situated on the western side
of the apadana , roughly three hundred fify
meters away .
